eMDee ADELAIDE FRINGE Speigel Tent
eMDee showcased the bands new album at The Adelaide Fringe Garden of Unearthly Delights..they didn't 'break a leg' but unfortunately the punters broke the floor! Packed to maximum capacity the gig saw Adelaide based singer/songwriter Andrew Heron join Shayote on vocals.

Kosta Jaric | Wednesday Mar 4th, 2009.....

" eMDee are one of those Australian live music acts that you need to see at least once in your lifetime. Taking a roots base, and defining it via an intensely bombarding mix of dance, drum n bass, ska and breakbeats, this Darwin group put an energy into their music that only a live performance can do justice.

Mark Hoffmann, originally from Adelaide, leads the way on his four-way didgeridoo, conjuring a deep sound that lies at the heart of each track. Having honed his craft over the past 19 years in the Northern Territory, he manages to bring an urban feel to the instrument. Lukas Bendel is as intense as they get on the drums, keeping up with Hoffmann's pace, and creating a crazy live beat that is far too rapid for the crowd's feet to keep up with. When soulful songstress Shayote Carter comes out with her smooth vocals, she creates an entirely new atmosphere to the music, defining it well with lyrics covering as diverse topics as the apology to the stolen generation, all the way through to lager."

REVIEWS

eMDee CANADIAN MUSIC WEEK Chartattack.....

"This wasn't a BC hippie didgeridoo playing band, this is the real thing.
A total of four didgeridoos attached together on a contraption with noise and effect machines, accompanied by super drums and vocals. The band mixed traditional Australian folk tunes
with space dance rock"

BBC MANCHESTER .........

When an act pitches up with a rack of four didgeridoos and enough drums to field a cavalry, you can't help but be intrigued.
From the moment they hit the stage with their unique brand of didgeridoo drum and bass, they caused more than a stir with what had up until then been a mouse-quiet crowd.
At 240 beats a minute, it's safe to say that EmDee will leave you breathless. Without doubt one of the most exciting acts to hit the City this weekend. Awesome.

here's what Triple J presenter Nicole Foote had to say in Triple J's Unearthed......

" I love Emdee and can't wait to get an opportunity to see them live. I think it could be quite electric. I've always thought that didge sounds great in dance production. This track is dreamy yet intense. Like a nine inch nails intensity that goes into a dreamy dancey vocal. "
